Week #4- Lesson Planning / Assure model

Week #4- Lesson Planning / Assure model

In this week’s Blog
The aim was to be more involved and get a better understanding of the types of learners there are and to plan my lessons to suit each type of learner.

TYPES OF LEARNERS

To understand how to move from passive to active learning, it is
important to understand the different types of learners. There are four primary learning styles: visual, auditory, read-write, and kinesthetic

Visual  learners: Prefer to use pictures, images, and spatial understanding.

Auditory (Aural) learners:  Use sound and music.

Read & write (Linguistic) learners: Rather the use of written words

Kinesthetic (physical) learners: Prefer hands on approaches & uses all senses to engage in learning

People learn using a variety of these methods, but one method is usually predominant

Blooms Taxanomy- Creating  Objectives to suit each type of learner

In using Blooms Taxonomy for Planning, it is wise to have a list of verbs that will aid in writing your objectives from each domain. Which are Psychomotor,  Affective,  Cognitive

Example of my objective using Blooms taxonomy:

A- Audience     B- Behavior      C-Condition       D- Degree

At the end of the lesson students will be able to create a design suitable for embroidery with the use of atleast three different stitches demonstrated in class.

Defining the term “ASSURE”

A- Analyze the audience.
S- State the objectives including different strategies.
S- Select related methods, media and materials.
U- Utilize related media and materials.
R- Require the learners participation.
E- Evaluate and Revise.

This can also be done using appriopriate learning materials such as
-videos  -songs  -poems  -demo’s   -role plays  etc
